This is a guitar improvisation recorded in one take in my living room. I am going through an intense period of emotional turmoil and strife and I have produced this piece as my own personal way of responding therapeutically to the murder of trans women, extending particularly to the murder of black and latinx trans women. As a trans woman myself, these murders have been affecting me deeply and tragically. I mourn the loss of my sisters and fear every single day for my own life. If you dont like extended guitar improvisations this may not be your thing, but i hope the message comes across anyway. This piece is dedicated to the memories of the 13 trans women killed in the US in 2017. Their names are: Mesha Caldwell, Jamie Lee Wounded Arrow, JoJo Striker, Keke Collier, Chyna Gibson, Ciara McElveen, Jaquarrius Holland, Alphonza Watson, Chay Darice Reed, Brenda Bostick, Sherrell Faulkner, Kenne McFadden, and Josie Barrios. This piece is also dedicated to Denisse De Leon, Dandara Dos Santos, and Wilka. Beyond those names, this piece is dedicated to any and all trans women who have been lost to violence. Learn their names and say them loudly so everyone can hear.
